口語里，我們經(jīng)常用到“可能”的表達(dá)。likely應(yīng)該是脫口而出的詞匯了，那今天我們再多了解一些表示“可能”單詞。多點(diǎn)可能，多點(diǎn)機(jī)會(huì)，多點(diǎn)回旋余地嘛。
1、probably很可能；大概
英語釋義：used to mean that something is very likely
probably是“多半”，其可能性超過一半。
一般指根據(jù)邏輯推理，估計(jì)有發(fā)生的可能，把握性較大，語氣比possibly強(qiáng)。
I’ll probably be home by midnight.我很可能半夜到家。
I’m probably going - it depends on the weather.我很可能會(huì)去——這要看天氣怎么樣。
2、maybe或許，大概
英語釋義：used to show that something is possible or that something might be true
maybe這個(gè)詞比perhaps更口語化，美國英語多用。指某事也許如此，含不能確定意味。
maybe要用于句首，它和perhaps表示的可能性大致為一半。
Maybe they’ll come tomorrow.或許他們明天會(huì)來。
Maybe you were right after all.或許還是你對。
3、perhaps或許，可能
英語釋義：used to show that something is possible or that you are not certain about something
多用于英式口語，與maybe同義。可用于句末、句中、句首。
He hasn’t written to me recently - perhaps he’s lost my address.他最近沒給我寫信——也許他把我的地址弄丟了。
4、possibly可能地
英語釋義：used when something is not certain
possibly指客觀上潛存著發(fā)生某種變化的可能，其可能性低于一半。
He may possibly decide not to come, in which case there’s no problem.他可能會(huì)決定不來，這樣就沒問題了。

5、presumably據(jù)推測，大概，可能
英語釋義：used to say what you think is the likely situation
presume的意思是“假定，推定，認(rèn)定”，多表示以過去經(jīng)驗(yàn)作根據(jù)或者是合乎邏輯地推測。
一般是有充分的理由，雖然結(jié)論仍可能是錯(cuò)誤的。可以得出，presume表示的可能性較高。
presumably是它的副詞形式，表示“據(jù)推測，大體上說“。
Presumably the bad weather has delayed the flight.大概惡劣的天氣使飛機(jī)誤點(diǎn)了。
The stars in each given cluster presumably were formed almost simultaneously.大體上說，每個(gè)給定星團(tuán)中的恒星差不多是同時(shí)形成的。
6、there is the possibility有可能
There is the probability that we were wrong.有可能是我們錯(cuò)了。
7、the chances are that=It is likely that很……有可能
Chances are (that) they’ll be late anyway.總之，他們很可能會(huì)遲到。
這也是很常用的表達(dá)。chance除了表示“機(jī)會(huì)”，也有“可能性”（likelihood）的意思。
所以說，不可能的英語就是——Not a chance！
更夸張一點(diǎn)就是：not a chance in hell！（絕不可能！）
8、in all probability很有可能，十之八九
英語釋義：used to mean that something is very likely
She will, in all probability, have left before we arrive.她十有八九會(huì)在我們到達(dá)之前就已經(jīng)離開了。
【小知識】
十之八九還可以是：nine times out of ten／ninety-nine times out of a hundred
Nine times out of ten, you can fix it.你十有八九能夠修好它。
9、there is every probability that極有可能
There is every probability that she is not coming.她很有可能不來了。
