David：What is China’s pharmaceutical industry like? 中國的醫藥業怎么樣?

You：In the past fifty years, China’s pharmaceutical industry has grown from nothing into a booming industry. When the PRC

was established in 1949, China’s basic pharmaceutical industries were very weak. 在過去的50年里，中國的醫藥業實現了從低潮到繁

榮的轉變。盡管1949年建國時，中國的醫藥業還都十分薄弱。

David：The entire pharmaceutical industry? 你是在說整個醫藥行業嗎?

You：對。50年代時，醫藥業不大景氣。

David：。So in the last 50 years it has developed.所以，你認為這些發展都要歸功于近50年

You：Yes, and now China has achieved an important position in the world market as a supplier of raw materials for

pharmaceuticals. 對。中國的藥品原料出口已經在世界上占有很重要的地位。

David：What do you mean? 怎么講?

You：I mean that many multi national companies depend on China for raw materials, and China has cornered about 30% of the

market share for pharmaceutical chemicals. 中國是很多跨國公司的原料供應地，而且它的化學藥品在世界市場上的份額達30%之多。

David：It seems like in the past 50 years China’s pharmaceutical market has opened to the world. 好像中國的醫藥市場在過去的50

年里一直都是開放的，是嗎?

You：Not exactly. In the first thirty years, China’s economy was not open to Western countries. But since the 1980’s, in the

last twenty years, China’s international trade has taken off. 是這樣的。最初的30年里，步伐比較緩慢;改革開放近20年以來，發展越來越快。
